In this course Ms. Littleton will focus on the importance of color theory including understanding the science of mixing colors as well as how it specifically benefits realistic watercolor painting. Through discussion, demonstration, exemplars and practicing proper mixing techniques, students will learn how to reasonably match colors in their reference image. Pupils can anticipate doing numerous test sheets to learn how to make tints and complimentary colors that are in their reference image. In addition, students will learn how to layer transparent washes to make figures and objects more three dimensional, enhance atmospheric perspective & appear luminescent. Students will also learn the differences between additive and subtractive color theory models. Ms. Littleton will engage the pupils with a presentation/demonstration each class that will commence for 45 minutes to one hour. The students will then work on exercises and projects for the remainder of the time with access to private instruction from Ms. Littleton. Pupils will apply these skills to a subject matter of their choice(please try to have an image that is not too complicated). Please have at least three color images with a strong light source that is at least 8 x10 or larger as well as appropriate supplies(provided supply list). All levels are welcome. This is a six week course. Their will not be the option to drop in on one class. Known for delivering serious training in a fun atmosphere, join Ms. Littleton for this informative and entertaining course.
