It's On Me~websiteStewart Emmerich. Born in a suburb of Baltimore, Stewart Emmerich came by his artistic abilities naturally, coming from a long line of artists on his father’s side.  While being inspired to create at home, he was also guided by some of the most talented art teachers in Baltimore County Public Schools.  From his academic and artistic successes in high school he was able to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art, graduating with a major in Graphic Design and a minor in painting.  He became owner of an art supply and custom picture framing business enabling him to apply his skills and knowledge of art in the business world and community.

While this was an exciting and challenging experience, he discovered a new passion after several years of successfully teaching a weekend children’s art program at Essex Community College.  He went back to the Maryland Institute College of Art and received his Master’s degree  in Art Education.  He began his teaching career in 1989, starting at an Anne Arundel County high school and quickly switching to the elementary level back in Baltimore County Public Schools.  Completing “the circle”, he was hired in Baltimore County by his former elementary school art teacher.

Dot Truitt

dtruitt-hanging-bellsAs a child, I always loved my coloring books and Esther Williams bathing caps. I feel these and now Cirque du Soleil have influenced my work greatly. I majored in Art Education and during my last semester a kiln and some clay was left to the college. I loved it because I could control it, and I could show 3-dimension. I never put a brush to canvas again. After my girls graduated from high school, I purchased a used kiln and taught myself all about pottery.

I use high-fire stoneware clay and low-fire glazes to get a wide range of colors. I make objects for the home, including fan pulls, finials for lamp shades, bottle stoppers and bells shaped like animals, small medium and large.
