The Art League of Ocean City is thrilled to announce that Sand and Cedar Taverna will sponsor our February First Friday! We are especially excited to showcase the artistic talent of Golie Miamee, owner of Sand and Cedar Taverna, as our featured artist in the Thaler Gallery for the month of February. Join us for this special evening as we celebrate the intersection of art, community, and local business.
Sand and Cedar Taverna
Throughout history, travelers carried recipes across regions, adapting them with local ingredients, spices, and techniques to create unique yet connected culinary traditions. Sand and Cedar Taverna brings these flavors to life, offering an unforgettable dining experience rooted in cultural heritage.
A Design That Transports You
The restaurant’s architecture is as immersive as its menu, featuring over 40 grand, old-world arches that soar 15 feet high. These towering arches, with their worn and weathered appearance, look as though they’ve stood for thousands of years. They tell stories of history, resilience, and endurance, with walls that bear the marks of ancient battles—reminders of the strength and perseverance of those regions. Today, we can appreciate their beauty, as they stand as symbols of the endurance of both architecture and spirit.
An Inspired Mixology Program
Sand and Cedar Taverna complements its culinary offerings with an exceptional mixology program. Guests can enjoy handcrafted cocktails inspired by the flavors of Lebanon, Greece, Turkey, and Morocco, alongside an impressive selection of imported wines and beers from these regions. Every drink is thoughtfully curated to enhance the dining experience and further immerse guests in the essence of these cultures.
Art That Speaks to the Journey of Life
The restaurant is further enriched by a stunning art installation created by Golie Miamee, an artist deeply connected to this region. Drawing from her roots and personal understanding of its culture, Golie captures the essence of life’s journey through her work. Her installation features women in the middle of the desert, embodying freedom. Each figure symbolizes the universal experience of moving forward into the unknown, embracing both the challenges and the beauty of life’s path.
Golie’s unique perspective brings authenticity and depth to the artwork, serving as a powerful metaphor for resilience, growth, and transformation—values that align seamlessly with the spirit of Sand and Cedar Taverna.
Sand and Cedar Taverna offers more than just food, drink, and art—it provides a sensory journey. While savoring the rich flavors of these regions, guests are surrounded by an environment that reflects the historical beauty, cultural depth, and enduring strength of these lands. This thoughtful combination of cuisine, design, mixology, and art ensures that every visit is a feast for the senses and the imagination.
