Artist Biography:
As a young man, Steve spent many hours helping his father in his hardware and auto parts business, which gave him extensive knowledge about all kinds of wire and nails.
During his youth, he created a stunning wire art of a sailing ship for his father’s birthday. At the time he did not realize how this would come to be an inspiration later in life.
Following several years in the Air Force, Steve took the experience in his dad’s store into his career in the retail auto parts business. After retiring from retail, he reflected on that special gift to his father many years ago and was motivated to once again pursue his creativity with wire art.
And thus, “WIRE WORKS” became a reality.
Artist Statement:
In my retirement, I renewed my interest in creating again with wire art. Now that I have the time, I find that inspiration is all around me. I have been experimenting with different materials, such as driftwood and wires of different gauges and colors.
