Evan Fitzgerald, "Persona"
- The word persona is rooted in the Latin word for a theatrical mask. Carl Jung described persona as a social mask that we all put on, with a different mask for a different setting. Fitzgerald's paintings explore these ideas by obscuring the subject’s face so that their headdresses are the focal point and the individual is merely a pedestal for display. His decision to work on wood panels is deliberate. Allowing the natural beauty of the wood to remain visible contradicts the adornments that obscure our view.

Beverly Bassford Memorial Juried Show, featuring members of the Art League and local artists. Exhibit juror: Elvin Hernandez.
- The Beverly Bassford Juried Show is an annual memorial event named for a former Art League of Ocean City board member who was passionate about the need for a new art facility, a passion realized in the Ocean City Center for the Arts. After her death in 1999, Bassford's family established a prize in her name that grew into the annual show, still sponsored by the family.
