As this year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible impact the Art League of Ocean City has had on my life—both personally and professionally. My name is Megan Burak-Lowe, and I have had the privilege of serving as the Digital Marketing Coordinator for the Art League since 2018. Many of you may know me from the front desk, where I’ve had the pleasure of greeting countless members and visitors, or from our Zoom classes, where I get to “see” so many of you virtually. I’m also an artist, just like many of you, and the Art League has played a profound role in shaping my journey.
When I graduated from Salisbury University in 2015, I was searching for a place where I could share my art with the world. My first exhibition outside of school was right here at the Art League of Ocean City. I’ll never forget the first time one of my paintings won “Best in Show.” That experience gave me the confidence to pursue my passion, and it introduced me to a community of artists and supporters who have inspired and encouraged me ever since.
Through the Art League, I’ve continued to exhibit my work, becoming a resident studio artist and even forming meaningful connections that shaped my career. It was here that I met my business partner and launched Beach Realm Creations, a collection of Ocean City-inspired artwork. And thanks to the relationships I built here, I recently signed with one of the world’s largest art dealers! None of this would have been possible without the opportunities and support I found at the Art League—opportunities made possible by the generosity of donors like you.
Over the past six years, I’ve witnessed the incredible growth of our organization. We’ve expanded our programs, brought art to more people in our community, and provided a platform for emerging and professional artists alike. It’s truly inspiring to see the Art League evolve and thrive, but sustaining this growth requires resources—and that’s where you come in.
