Local Colors, Watercolors with Geri Gaskill

$20 for members, $25 for non members Watch watercolor demonstrations and try your hand as you paint along with Geri! Have fun while you learn to capture the "local color" in watercolors. All levels welcome. Bring what supplies you have or rent a kit for just $10.
Holiday Glass Plates or Candle Holders with Pete Gibson

$55 for members, $70 for non members, plus $20 material fee Inspired by the Holidays you will construct a 8.75" square plate (with slightly curved up edges in it's final form). Plates can be displayed, or used as serving plates for food, etc. OR, you can make a slightly smaller votive candle holder for tea light candles in a design of your choice. Using scrap glass, you can construct two votives or one plate. Material fee of $20 is payable to ALOC at front desk on the day of class.
Beginner Oil Painting Class

Cost: $30 Members, $38 Non-Members Want to learn how to paint with oil but don't know where to start? This class will guide you step-by-step on what material to use, the importance of your sketch, composition, and how to make your painting stronger. Bring your own supplies and your reference material. Advanced registration is required to garantee your spot. Minimum of three students is needed for class to be held.
Acting Hands-On Workshop with Deborah Lee Walker

Cost each session: 25$ Members, $30 Non-Members, You always wanted to learn “Acting”? Here is an exciting new addition to our catalog! It’s a hands-on Acting-workshop with Deborah Lee Walker. She went to study at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York and Los Angeles, as well as in London on a scholarship. Now working in front of the camera for WBOC’s Delmarva Life cooking show, she will be teaching you the “Strasberg Acting Method”. Come in casual clothes, spots are limited. Teens ages 13 and up are welcome.

Junior Chef Kids Cooking Class with Debbi Dean-Colley

Drawing Boot Camp with David Simpson (Develop your Drawing)

$30 for members/ $38 for non-members per class This will be a five class series that focuses on and will tackle the foundation to 2-D art, composition. By definition in art, composition is the arrangement of visual information in a picture plane; it is equally defined as how artist organize the elements of art via the use of principles of design. Building your own composition is the true fundamental authentic artistic experience. Not only is taking ownership in your composition essential for originality, it is one of the greatest opportunities in the art making experience to build your confidence. It is important to know that art students are NOT required to attend all sessions. Obviously the more class in this series you attend, your understanding and ability in creating composition will be stronger. Any knowledge and experience in composition is beneficial; therefore, please come and join this great drawing opportunity any week you can attend. This series will include and address a variety of compositional topics and rules. Finally, Art History will be tied into each lesson to strengthen the concepts learned. Bring your own supplies and we will supplement. Each month will focus on a new and exciting topic! 2.) December’s Topic: Compositional Simplification, what should you include? Art and Soul: Prayer Flags

Suggested donation: $10. Funded by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. Create a prayer flag for yourself or those around you and send it out into the universe with this project. This workshop is focused on the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight. This healing workshop provides support, acknowledgement and personal acceptance to those who may be experiencing illness, homelessness, abuse, addiction or painful challenges in life and to the family members and friends who may also be affected. Our mission is to offer an escape and healing through art.
