Photo Transfer on Wood with John R. Iampieri

Students will learn the steps needed to successfully transfer a photo onto wood using materials provided by Instructor. Wood surfaces offer a wonderful aged-look.
Students are asked to bring color or B & W photos 5”x7” already copied onto regular copy paper from a laser printer. Each person will create four transfers from either their own personal photos or from those provided by instructor.

4-weeks Representational Drawing - learn to draw from observation from real life with Jill Kohut

Representational Drawing for all levels learn the skills needed to draw from observation!
Drawing using observational techniques focuses on transferring images from real life.
Week 1
Emphasis will center on strong compositional skills; exercises in sight transfer; use of materials; and creating the illusion of form using shading technique of blending.
Materials needed: pencils – Lyra Rembrandt set, Staedtler white eraser, drawing paper.
Week 2
Explore contour drawing techniques / blind contour drawing /continuous contour line drawing.
Materials needed: sharpie or fine point marker, newsprint or inexpensive drawing paper.
Week 3
Drawing from your own digital images vs working with grids. Emphasis on composition.
Materials needed: ruler, pencils, drawing paper, phone images camera images printed out or on computer.
Week 4
Gesture drawing exercises
Materials bamboo brush, ink, newsprint paper larger the better.
Some paper will be provided by the instructor.

Pottery Wheel Basics for Beginner with Sarah Halcott

This is a beginner to intermediate class, no previous ceramics experience needed.
Beginners will learn how to center clay quickly and efficiently. Each day (once a month) will focus on reinforcing the basic principles to using the wheel. The main goal will be to learn how to center the clay and prepare it for form. The proven throwing techniques taught will enable new potters to create a wide variety of shapes. Practice will lead to a proficiency in throwing. We will learn the basic techniques to forming cylinders, bowls and plates.
Your best piece will get glazed and fired.

Watermelon is probably the most popular fruit for melon carving but there are many other colors of melons that can be carved. Honeydew melon with it’s green flesh and white skin is refreshingly pretty and easy to find year round here in the United States.

Enterprising DIYers are choosing to really flex their creative muscles by carving Watermelons to create beautiful center pieces that decorate any summer party table.

Virginia is inviting you to her home, she will explain every step, and will teach you how to carve and decorate your own watermelon to create a stunning piece!

Please bring your own Watermelon it should be around 8-10 inches and we will provide all the other supplies!

Macramé (MAC-ruh-may) is the art of tying cords into knots in such a way that they form a useful and decorative shape. This art form has been making a huge comeback lately!
Learn this old and easy to learn technique to make a beautiful and decorative piece for your home. You will learn the different kind of knots, how to add some beautiful beads and go home with a finished piece.

Today you will make and take a Macrame Keychain, necklace or fan pull. Students will learn basic macrame knots and techniques necessary to complete a small Project, possibly two.

This Painting/Drawing 2-day workshop is for all 2-D color mediums and designed for established beginners, intermediate artists, and beyond. In this workshop we will expand upon our knowledge of how to utilize the entire color wheel in a work of art. Have you ever thought to yourself… this piece is missing something? It could be as simple as incorporating a better balance of color. The fact is, learning how to better use the complete color spectrum will enhance your artistic application moving forward. We will view a variety of artwork that exemplifies this art topic. As for the subject, I will provide a still life and photo reference. However, the subject for your artwork will be an independent decision. You can bring your own photo reference or utilize the local scenes. Please bring your own supplies.

Art and Soul: Magic of Mermaids

This workshop is focused on the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight. This healing workshop provides support, acknowledgement and personal acceptance to those who may be experiencing illness, homelessness, abuse, addiction or painful challenges in life and to the family members and friends who may also be affected. Our mission is to offer an escape and healing through art.
