$195 Members, $ 245 Non-Members Have you ever wondered how to Loosen-Up your painting style? Paint with more Freedom? Be more Spontaneous? Be more Expressive? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then this workshop is for you! I will teach you how to do each of these realizing there should also be a firm foundation of structure for your paintings using line, shape, value, color, edges and texture. This workshop is not only about painting abstract compositions, but also about learning to loosen-up and paint more freely. All who attend will be able to apply the lessons learned to their own style of painting in their studios. Media: This workshop is non media specific. All who utilize watercolor, acrylic, pastel and oil are welcome. Each Day: Each class period includes instructor discussion, an instructor painting demonstration, student painting time and critiques of student work.

Back to Basics with Pastel with Barbara Kern-Bush

This is a FREE event! An exciting new addition to our catalogue is being offered for those who would like to learn more about painting with pastels. All successful painting follows to a various degree basic elements of design, color and value. In this series of pastel classes students will, while experiencing and experimenting with the marvelous properties of pastel, constantly revisit and stay aware of these elements. While pastel is often considered more of a studio medium, we will, according to the wants and needs of the group, be alternately setting up a still life indoors or using photographic references, or possibly working live from a model at least during one session, all the while addressing the caveats of each approach. During each session students will also have the choice to work on their own painting from their own chosen photos, at their own pace. There will be some time set aside to share insights at the end of each session. Students will also be encouraged to share inspirational master level painters’ work (books, online images, etc.). Together we will throw ourselves into this beautiful, vibrant medium! We are kicking of this wonderful class with this Free Event.

Sumi-e, East Asian Brush Painting with Joan Lok

Learn how to use gestural brushwork to capture the beauty of flowers. Author of Barron's best-selling "Chinese Brush Painting:Flowers", Joan will cover a variety of flowers, including peony, lotus, cherry blossom, orchid, daisy and morning glory. This workshop will be packed with demonstration, discussion, and individual help. Day 1 – Introduction to fundamental brushwork and how to load multiple colors on a brush. Beginners and Beyond Watercolor Class

Rev up Your Knitting with Victoria Christie-Healy
