This creative online class will focus on developing and creating a composition from multiple old drawings. This drawing can be innovatively realistic or abstract. Let’s take those old sketches, unfinished drawings, and finished drawings in storage, cut them up and make a new work of art! The fact is that challenging one’s self to create new works of art in innovative ways helps build confidence and creative intuition. Without a doubt, this will be a fun class and a great learning experience. As a class, we will gain an understanding of the class concepts through a brief lecture, Power Point, and teacher lead instruction. This class can be accomplished with literally one pencil, eraser, and paper. However, the ideal essential materials are a variety of Pencils, HB-6B, erasers, and sketch pad (approximately 11” x 14”).

Chagall at the beach:
Practice shape, form , mixing colors and composition in gouache or acrylics, using Chagall as an inspiration.

Gouache – sometimes referred to as opaque watercolor, starts out similarly to watercolor. The pigment ratio in gouache is usually much greater than in watercolor and solid white pigment are incorporated. These factors give gouache a much heavier texture and higher opacity than watercolor alone.
But if you feel more comfortable painting in Acrylic that is fine too.

Students will learn to practice shape ,color , form and composition using gouache paints (opaque watercolor) with various subject matter. In each class , we will also focus on different styles which will evolve from abstract through impressionism to superrealism.

Bring your own supplies (gouache paints, paper, brushes, heavy card stock or Bristol board replaces canvas, for Acrylic Painting bring Acrylic colors, canvas, brushes, paper towels, etc.), or rent a kit from the instructor for a fee of $15.
Please let us know ahead of the class that you will need to rent a kit so the instructor will have enough supplies available.
