Feb 10 – Paint an Owl – Watercolor Sketch
Join me and paint a lovely watercolor painting of this very cute owl. We’ll start by drawing the owl (or tracing it). Then comes the examination of the feathers and all its different colors and layers! We’ll paint in light washes, adding color as needed. Finally, comes the detailing and a light wash behind this creature. We will use a variety of techniques – wet on wet, dry brush, and detailing – to create this realistic portrait of an owl.

Gouache – sometimes referred to as opaque watercolor, starts out similarly to watercolor. The pigment ratio in gouache is usually much greater than in watercolor and solid white pigment are incorporated. These factors give gouache a much heavier texture and higher opacity than watercolor alone.
But if you feel more comfortable painting in Acrylic that is fine too.
Students will learn to practice shape ,color , form and composition using gouache paints (opaque watercolor) with various subject matter. In each class , we will also focus on different styles which will evolve from abstract through impressionism to superrealism.
Bring your own supplies (gouache paints, paper, brushes, heavy card stock or Bristol board replaces canvas, for Acrylic Painting bring Acrylic colors, canvas, brushes, paper towels, etc.), or rent a kit from the instructor for a fee of $15.
Please let us know ahead of the class that you will need to rent a kit so the instructor will have enough supplies available.
Reference photos and sample paintings will be provided as examples.

Goldfish painting is something magical and whimsical with their effervescent colors sure to give you an enjoyable day and a fun painting to take home. We’ll be creating and learning many tips and techniques while you paint your goldfish. Come early to set up, lender kits available to beginners for a small charge.
Watch watercolor demonstrations and try your hand as you paint along with Gerilyn! Have fun while you learn to capture the "local color" in watercolors.

Paint Snow Scene with Cabin in Watercolor & Ink
Join me and paint several lovely watercolor winter scenes. Together we will draw several pictures placing a cabin, water, and trees in pleasing compositions. After adding a very wet wash, salt will be added to create the background trees. (A hair dryer will come in handy.) Layers of grays and blues will add depth and clarity to the image. If desired, a fine permanent marker can be used to enhance the artwork.

Join us and together we will paint these lovely rainbow goldfish using acrylic paints. First we’ll decide where to place our fish and then move on to paint them! We’ll add some grass and bubbles.
