Artist Statement:

My style— saturated colors; closely detailed exaggeration; restraint suggesting abandon and intensely personal stylization. Influences from other artists as well as my own thoughts as to how to grow further have all been central to my efforts. Many paths have been tried for lengthy periods and then abandoned, others evolved into directions that outlasted others and have been met, generally, with approbation and I dare say, acceptance. It’s a hard thing to do and be good at. Painting. It is not just painting, but something that I believe in and stand behind and ask acknowledgment for. Many years into my life, having painted since i was very young I do not regret all the many weak and unpolished compositions as the repetition of the act of painting proved invaluable in honing my own unique style. Now, I have multiple ideas and i believe they are solid and with no regrets i pursue them. It has taken years to gain the competence i feel i have achieved, as it is with much in life, effort and diligence provide results. My reward and my raison d’etre is to reënter the studio every day and begin work without it feeling like a job or the studio a prison. Being an artist is a lonely vocation. Nothing comes easy, but I love it. I can do many things but this is what I enjoy doing best.
