
Artist Biography:
Lucia Finocchiaro Calloway began her artistic journey by watching her father create beautiful portraits. She studied at the Delaware Art Museum during her high school days and participated in her first small group art exhibition at the Art Museum. After winning an art teacher scholarship to the University of Delaware, she majored in both art and special education. Her years in education included teaching art to K through 8th grades in the public schools. She is now retired and painting in both oils and pastels at her studio at Beaver Point located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She has received many awards from numerous art leagues throughout the Delmarva peninsula.
Artist Statement:
Finding inspiration in my surroundings is the key to my happy place. Sometimes I am moved by a bird in my backyard or across the globe. Color, movement, forms in everyday scenes bring me joy. I love to capture moments in time and to share them with others. Nature amazes me in all its forms.
