Artist Statement:
I have had a lifelong passion for animals, nature, and the outdoors. As a child I loved to wander the woods near my home, playing in ponds and streams, which sparked my curiosity and imagination. As an adult, my capacity to notice and delight in the small and inconspicuous elements of the environment has not diminished.
Photography is my primary medium for artistic expression. Having a child-like, curious personality has helped me maintain a playful outlook on life. I use my free time to shoot what makes me happy. With my camara I can capture and preserve tranquil moments spent observing flowers, plants, animals, birds, and insects. By placing myself in atypical settings I can see the unusual in the ordinary. Minimal post-production treatments are employed in my images, keeping them true to what I observed.
Photography has offered me a way to share with others my unique view of world, not normally encountered as one rushes about their busy lives. It is my hope that my images can momentarily instill in others a sense of wonder and awe, urging them to slow down and notice the incredible world surrounding us all.
