November 2024 Exhibits
November 1 @ 9:00 am - November 30 @ 4:00 pm
Featured in the Thaler Gallery:
"Modern Allegories" featuring three artists exploring symbolism in art.
Susanna Eisenman, Felisa Federman, David Hollander
- Eisenman's work explores art as storytelling, bringing attention to untold stories as a way of starting a dialogue, appreciation for others' experiences, and ensuring the Asian American experience in America is told. She is interested in the intersection between groups, the current erosion of individual rights such as bodily autonomy, and the evolution (or sometimes co-opting) of symbols and language to suit a social or political agenda.
- Federman's series provides an open-end view of contemporary and global social-economical and cultural issues. It will encourage conversations to an intergenerational community at large about the techniques she used and of the meaning of each artwork. Her fiber mixed media depicts movement of communities through nature. The image of a woman's head is just a symbol of humanity and a clue for a composition that looks almost abstract.
- Hollander's work revolves around universal Humanist themes, as opposed to specific cultural or political topics. Some paintings are meant to inspire, others to disrupt. The Weather Report Suite is a collection of allegorical paintings that explore the relationship of weather patterns to psychic states. Another series is a subjective meditation on the Tarot deck. Some "cards" are interpretations of the existing deck, others are Jungean archetypes of his own design.

"The Art of Gratitude" group show featuring members of the Art League and local artists, with cash prizes awarded. Exhibit judge: Susan Holt
- As the Thanksgiving season approaches, this exhibit reminds viewers of what we have to be grateful for. Artists celebrate their expression with artwork created to express thanks, including abstract interpretations or capturing a moment of beauty or a meaningful object.

In Studio E:
Featuring paintings by
Nancy Fine and
Rhonda Ford (pictured).
- As a long-time resident of Northern Baltimore County, Maryland, Nancy Fine is inspired by the views around her. In a transition from realism, Plein Air has provided the perfect vehicle for expressing her love of the outdoors and awareness of nature. The success of Nancy’s work is the result of not only her interpretation of the ever-changing natural surroundings, but of her use of lush colors, and the freedom of brushwork and her palette knife.
- Rhonda Ford lives in Easton, Md. where she is active in the Working Artists Forum and the Plein Air Painters of the Chesapeake Bay. Enjoying plein air painting has given her the opportunity to combine a love of outdoors and painting all in one. Rhonda has been participating in many local events as well as being juried into Plein Air Easton the last two years.
In the Spotlight Gallery:
Featuring watercolor paintings by
Greg Cannizzaro.
- After a successful 35 year career as a graphic designer, Greg and wife Cindy followed their dream of living near the ocean, their happy place. Greg, already a fused glass artist, decided to take a watercolor class at a community college and he was “hooked”. Since then, he has also had classes with local artists offering instruction. This has provided a new dimension to his style, blending his technical eye for detail with a watery mix of light and shade. He has a passion for landscapes, old barns, nature, old cars, local scenes, and of course the beach.
In the Artisan Showcase:
