Bus Trip to Barnes Foundation

Robinson Fellow Jenn Carter will lead our group through the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia PA and fall in love again with works by Impressionist, Post Impressionist and early Modernist art. A special display of contemporary British artist Cecily Brown’s exhibition, “Themes and Variations”, will be on view during our visit.
Rescheduled to Thursday, May 15th: Bus departs 8:30AM from ACME parking lot, 94th Street, Ocean City, returns 7:30PM
$95 members, $115 non-members

Featuring the Clay Guild of the Eastern Shore

Celebrate the art of clay all month long in June at the Art League of Ocean City during Clay-a-palooza, a vibrant series of events showcasing pottery and ceramic arts. In partnership with the Clay Guild of the Eastern Shore, the month is packed with hands-on activities, artist talks, live demonstrations, and family-friendly fun for all ages.

Join us for an insightful evening with our Pottery Studio Manager, Robbie Johnson, as he shares the story behind the in-house Clay Studio at the Arts Center and offers tips on how to get started with pottery.

A lively evening of clay-themed activities:

5–7pm: Explore the Clay Guild Marketplace & Sculpture Garden

5–6pm: Ocean Pottery Throwdown – Compete or watch as participants throw tea bowls or pitchers, even blindfolded! Prizes included.

6pm: Scholarship announcements and awards

6:30–7pm: Pottery Speed Trials – Try the potter’s wheel for two minutes of fast-paced fun!

5–7pm: Pottery Ping Pong – Toss a ping pong ball into a piece of pottery and take it home if you land it!

Bring the little ones for a fun, hands-on pottery experience. Kids will create pressed clay projects using plants in the Courtyard – perfect for budding young artists!

Outdoor Raku Pottery Workshop
Sunday, June 8 | 11am–4pm | $50/$60
with Robbie Johnson
Choose a 1–2 bisque-ware pot thrown by Robbie and learn the Raku firing technique, including metallic rainbow, white crackle, and horsehair finishes. Your piece will be ready the same day to take home! Click here to register.

Sponsored by the Town of Ocean City, this is a Season 9 showcase of short documentaries about Ocean City/Ocean City-adjacent history. Films explore an array of topics to educate, entertain, and inform. Total showtime is approximately 99 minutes.

150 Years of Smiles 

Directed by Fiona O’Brien.

A brief history of Maryland’s coastal resort town Ocean City. An economy built by influential women in the 20th century, 10 miles of beach, and countless memories culminate in this short documentary.13 minutes.

Eyes of the Fort

Directed by Megan Dodson.

During World War II, fire control towers were built along the Maryland and Delaware coast to defend against German ships attacking the United States coastline. Eyes of the Fort, tells the story of the towers and how the Army’s Coast Artillery Corps protected the United States during some of the darkest days of World War II. 9 minutes.

The Conner Stories

Directed by Don Lehman.

This film features brother and sister, Bob and Barbara Conner, who were born and raised in OceanCity. Their parents, Robert and Shirley owed the Conner’s Inn on 10th Street. The Conner family lived in the Inn which was mostly managed by Mrs.Conner. Robert was an electrician and later, an electrical inspector. Bob and Barbara share stories with Don and Gwendolyn Lehman about growing up in Ocean City during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. 15 minutes.

Greetings from Ocean City Maryland

Directed by Jesse Bowes. 

A found art film collecting 100 years of Ocean City, MD as collected by 100 post cards. 7 minutes. 

Tales from the Dock: The Legacy of Hooper’s Crab House

Directed by Maurice Waters.

a heartfelt exploration of tradition, resilience, and the powerful bonds that tie a community together. This 13-minute documentary takes viewers on an inspiring journey through the story of Hooper’s Crab House, a cherished family-owned establishment. Through vibrant storytelling and personal reflections, the film brings to life the rich history and cultural significance of this iconic seafood restaurant. Anchored by the passionate voice of owner Royette Shepard, the narrative captures the challenges and triumphs that have shaped the legacy of Hooper’s Crab House. From its humble beginnings to its vital role in the local community, “Tales from The Dock” celebrates the spirit of perseverance and the enduring value of staying true to one’s roots. The Henry Hotel

Directed by Marlon Wallace.

A historian tells a young filmmaker about Charles T. Henry, the man behind an important piece of African American folklore in Ocean City, Maryland. The filmmaker then imagines what Charles went through, nearly 100 years ago, including rules of segregation, in order to create the now famous landmark that bears his name. 18 minutes.

Directed by Davis Mears.

Unparallel’d Butchery: the Assateague 20

Directed by B.L. Strang-Moya.

In January of 1650, Colonel Henry Norwood’s party of 19 English refugees were stranded on the Delmarva coast… Only after an already harrowing months-long sail wrought with storms and starvation. As depicted in Norwood’s A Voyage to Virginia, this film recounts his horrifying journey and unlikely survival. 14 minutes.

Artists Paint OC

Join us for the 20th annual Artists Paint OC, where artists bring the Ocean City area to life through plein air painting! Registration is currently full for this event – join our waitlist!

Artists will set up along the boardwalk, streets, harbors, bay, and marshes to capture the beauty of our coastal town. Registration includes participation in the full event and the Quick Paint competition. Limited to 50 artists, age 18 or older, on a first-come basis.

Registration Fee: $50 for Art League members | $65 for non-members (Non-refundable registration fee) Registration is currently full.

Public Reception & Art Sale: Saturday, August 16, 5-7 PM at the Arts Center (Juried entries will remain on display through September 2025).

Juror: Sara Linda Poly, originally from the Philadelphia area, studied at university in PA, VA, MD., and with local and national artists. Sara’s past experience includes illustration and design and work as assistant gallery director at the Art League Gallery, in Alexandria, VA., where she is now an instructor. Known for her sweeping skies and dramatic light in the landscape, she has been the winner of numerous awards and a participant in many regional and national shows.

Downtown Ocean City
$25 Members, $30 Non-Members

Paint against the clock in downtown Ocean City for your chance at $650 total prizes sponsored by the Ocean City Development Corporation!
  • 8-8:30 am – Artists check-in in front of Thrasher’s Fries on the boardwalk and get paper/canvas stamped. Onsite registration available.
  • 9-11 am – Artists paint against the clock in the downtown area – from beach to bay and inlet to N. Division St.
  • 11 am – Cease painting and return to the OC Center for the Arts to set up artwork for judging and sale.
  • 12:30 pm – Judging of artwork.
  • 1pm – 3 pm – Off-the-easel art sale, with live music and mimosa cash bar
NOTE: Artists registered for the full Plein Air event are automatically signed up for the Quick Paint and do not need to sign up separately.
